2015 - Asheville/Atanta Day 7-9 (Atlanta, Georgia)

Today is aquarium day!

Breakfast at Country Inn & Suites Atlanta was similar to the other location but it is nicer and has actually silverware and plates instead of Styrofoam.

We ordered the early bird tickets where you could go to the aquarium at 9:00 am and we ended up spending about 3.5 hours there.  My two highlights was the dolphin tales show (when we went on Friday, we were told they have one at 11:00 am, one at 2:00 pm, and I think there is another after that) and the room where just sit and look at the whale sharks and stingrays swimming around.

Went to Legal Sea Food for lunch.  Ordered the crab cake and fried clams both were really good. Also got the Boston Cream Pie which was very delicious.

World of Coca-Cola was next.  Somehow spent 2.5 hours here.  Did all the exhibits, watched the 4D movie and waited for a picture with the bear.  At the end, you get to try all types of Coca-Cola drinks from around the world.  Personally, I didn't really like any of them, but that's okay.  It could also be that after about 10 samples, my tongue just couldn't differentiate tastes as well as at the beginning.  You get a bottle of coke on your way out which is a nice touch.

Dinner was at the food court at the CNN tower. Walked through the Centennial Olympic Park and it is nice although not a must go for me.

I was initially going to include another post, but since we didn't really do much besides driving back to Toronto, I decided that I will end our June roadtrip posts with this one.  Hope you enjoyed the trips and pictures as much as we did!  Until next trip!

Future POIs - World of Coca Cola [Atlanta, Georgia]

Going up as a child, Coca Cola was one of the drinks that I've always had and to this day, I still do although not as much as I did as a child.  My mom told me that I was given Coke as a few month old child and when I was older and I wouldn't take my medicine, they would try to give me medicine by putting it into a Coca Cola can.  That didn't end well because you can fool a child by the can, but not by the taste.

When we go to Atlanta, World of Coca Cola is the second big attraction that we plan to see while we are there and it happens to be right next to the other place which is the Georgia Aquarium.  This attraction will provide guests with the history behind one of the world's most famous beverages, there is a 4D movie, you can see the bottling process and get to try over 100 beverages from around the world!

In 2015, the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta hit 25 years of age.  This new attraction actually replaced the old version at Underground Atlanta which was built back in 1990.  Did you know that Coca-Cola dates back all the way to 1886?  Yes, the company is over 125 years ago.  It was actually created by an Atlanta pharmacist Dr. John S. Pemberton who developed the syrup and his partner Frank M. Robinson designed the name and trademarked logo.  Back in the early days, the average daily sales were 9 servings a day, today, the number is estimated to be 1.9 BILLION servings a day worldwide.
